About Acharya Balkrishanji

Acharya Balkrishan

Modern medical science has been unsuccessful, despite extensive research, in finding cures for diseases such as diabetes, rheumatism, osteoarthritis etc.  The focus of modern treatment is the symptoms of these diseases: the root causes tend not to be addressed.

By contrast, Ayurved, the ancient system of Indian medicine, concentrates on the root causes of an ailment and by eradicating it, cures the ailment itself.  Diseases considered incurable by conventional medicine are capable of being cured through Ayurved.

Research and development into this ancient field of medicine is been undertaken at the Department of Medical Science in Yog and Ayurved at Patanjali Yog Peeth in Haridwar, India.  While the research into the health benefits of yog is being conducted under the guidance of Swami Ramdev Maharaj, the Ayurvedic aspect of the research is the responsibility of Acharya Balkrishan, a leading authority on this ancient science who is also the co-founder, with Swami Ramdev, of Patanjali Yog Peeth, and the Secretary General of the Divya Yog Mandir Trust..

Through Acharya Balkrishan's research, hitherto lost ancient remedies have been re-discovered and the large - scale production of high quality Ayurvedic medicine by Divya Yog Pharmacy under his personal guidance is bringing relief to millions of sufferers and many are being cured of diseases deemed incurable by modern medicine

Educational Background

A Post Graduate from Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya, Varanasi, in Sankhya-Yog and Ayurved, Acharyaji studied 'Panninie Vyakaran', Sanskrit and Indian Philosophy, Vedas and Upnishads. He mastered  'Charak Samahitya', 'Ashtang Hriday', 'Bhaysajya Ratnavali' and other Ayurvedic compositions under Acharya Baldevji in Gurukul Kalwa, Haryana.

Acharya Balkrishan practised austerities in the caves of the Himalayas in the 1990s with Swami Ramdev and re-discovered lost varieties of Astavarga plants, which are the chief ingredients of Chyavanprash, an Ayurvedic tonic. The knowledge relating to these plants had been lost over time because of the lack of proper written records. His  research into Astavarga therapy will have huge benefits for mankind.  He has initiated a project to cultivate rare high-altitude species of medicinal plants such as  Jatamansi, Katuki and kur. Through his painstaking research, Acharyaji has discovered permanent cures into hitherto incurable diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes and osteo-arthritis, among others.

By relieving the pain of the suffering through medical treatment, he is proving himself true to the dictum of the ancient sages..

" Kamaye duhkha- taptanam praninam arti-nasanam."
